DIY waterproof winter sock

So largely based on lost bikers goretex winter sock design (apologies if stepping on toes!) I made a winter sock from North face hyvent 2.5. I did change some things though as I added large breather holes at each end where the hammock suspension goes through. I also didn't make any attempt to waterproof the zip as I'm positive that in sustained rain the hyvent (or any waterproof fabric) will 'wet out' and stop breathing anyway so the zip would need opening a significant amount

Ridge-line is 115" and weight is 778g (27.5 oz)

I made this for the misses but I've got more fabric to make more if I like it too or to sell (I can't imagine liking being inclosed) to fund a couple of trips I've planned.

Honestly I'm not sure yet as the ends could leak? My original thought was with a small asym tarp but I think unless bad weather is forecast I'd probably be just using the sock. I have been thinking about mini (tiny) tarps over the opening to protect them.

How about adding a small beak to protect your suspension? that might work instead of using the mini-tarps you mentioned above.

Yeah it could be a neater with beaks, not sure how to do it though. My tarp end idea is basically a triangle covering over the exposed ends while still having a decent amount of venting.
