I've used the Omega rings for almost 2 years now. Never had a problem with them and the weight isn't that big of a deal. I've switched to the SMC rings for simple economic reasons: I'm cheap. The REI rep told me that he used the SMC rings and really liked them, and being a hard sell I quickly bought what they had. I've spent this weekend using the SMC rings and to me they seem to "bite" better on the webbing. I'm sold on the SMC rings now.

Like Taz said, REI doesn't charge for shipping to the store, so I'd go that route. My .02 worth

I'm surprised the rep. I spoke with didn't suggest the free shipping thing.
I asked him to look in the back, in case they had more as I showed him the empty display rack. He came back and told me " sorry, not any time soon either." I was totally bummed.

Anyways . . . Leave it to the fine folks of HF to save the day!

Oh and cavscout, nice source . . . dig the color selection.

Use the same rings as Cavscout, no problems here! (or shold this be "all secure in sector"?)
My knife is so sharp it cut the sixth finger off my right hand! On the plus side, Inigo Montoya no longer hunts me.

Just got back from quick trip and my SMC rings are here. I've tested them on several types of webbing as well as cord and they are amazingly light and grip everything very well. I'm waiting on an order of 3/16" Amsteel Blue for the final configuration.

I was hoping my SMC rings would arrive today, but no dice. Keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow! My Amsteel, Strapworks straps and TrekLight biners showed up today though.
