Please help me find a solution...

I have an old jungle hammock that I used maybe 5 times over 10 years ago. I don't remember how or what was used to hang it, and I believe the reason I quit using it was because part of the suspension system failed. please keep in mind I do not (yet) have sewing capability and I am not (yet) a weight snob.

I'm not sure what your question is.

If you are asking how to attach the suspension lines in pict 1 to the hammock edge in pict 2
I would google "military jungle hammock" and go to the google pictures for tips.

seems to me that you would put all the loops through the holes and run the metal ring through them all to gather the end

When you get the hammock hung, test it before you put your body in it. I would be worried about the stitching holding and the fabric.

I second DamnYankee's idea to put the loops from the ring through the grommet holes then back over the ring. And also heed IRONFISH45's comment about testing in some fashion before trusting it with your body over a hard surface.

Use 12-strand paracord to reconstruct the suspension, while attaching it to the hammock. The knot attaching to the ring is a double clove hitch.

I tried this, but after doing so, I remember that the ring was attached to the rope I used around the trees. I believe there was a rope threaded through those grommets and loops, but time has been kinder to this hammock than my memory.

Definitely. I plan to bring this back to life for my son, and then get something more modern that will actually hold my butt off the ground.

Why don't you just bypass the rings altogether by wadding the end together (gathered end) and then throw a hitch knot over it with your cord (Amsteel), which goes up to the tree?
