    Seam seal Mamajamba

I just received a Mamajamba last week and need to seam seal the pullouts yet. Seeing as how I've never done anything like that can someone please help me make sure I'm doing the right thing? I've ordered a tube of Silnet and it should be here any day now. Am I supposed to just basically try to work it into the seam between the grosgrain ribbon and the silnylon where ever the thread penetrates the silnylon? Should I also be spreading it on the grosgrain ribbon on the inside of the tarp itself? I don't want to over do it, yet at the same time I don't want to under do it either.

I've read both, to only do it on the exposed threads... and to also cover the patch of grosgrain. Both have had successful reports.

My experience was that when I sealed only the exposed stitching, mine still seeped a bit. It may be that I didn't do a well enough job, but I went back over the whole ribbon edge to edge, and I haven't had a leak since.

    YMMV.

    Rob,
How do you tie the surgical tubing to your guy lines? Looks like a good idea.

I picked these up from Stu @ Whoopieslings.com. There are a few DIY threads as well. This works well in the summer, warm weather months.

I read that the better solution is Permatex flowable seam sealer for glass and windshields. It flows into the thread holes. Worked out great on my Superfly and hardly any mess. You can find it at any automotive store.

I'm guessing roughly same process though. Make sure you've covered all the stitching and probably all the grosgrain ribbon as well?

Nope, I just cut the end of the applicator to the smallest hole I could and just ran it on the threads on the inside of the tarp. Setting up the tarp inside out makes this very easy. Remember, it "flows", so it is seeping down through the thread holes. Makes a very neat job and no leaks.
