Like the picture of the backpack too. Your review of The Osprey Atmos 65 was what led me to buy it!
No, that snow on the branch was nature's cotton candy I can't believe how light this stuff was. I'm used to the lake effect off Lake Michigan whcih always seems to be chunkier. I'm sure it had to do with something else like the dewpoint or temp.

Here's an up close of the flakes

Thanks so much for sharing your adventure.

All this work you have been doing to tune your hammock kit has really paid off.
Thanks! I'm still a little disappointed with my 0° Incubator. It's better than my last trip, but not quite there yet. It's hanging tight against my body so I'm stumped. I also put too much faith in my 0° Burrow as far as keeping my feet warm with thick socks. They got cold so I threw in the hot water bag.

I love those few times in wilderness where I find silence and winter seems like the best shot at achieving it; Isle Royale came close a few times but you still here Jets flying by high over head.

Oh by the way, I have a feeling they are considering the use of mountain bikes here. That seemed to be the focal point in a survey they had at the self-pay area.

I'm all for sharing the land, but not like this. I have plenty of mountain biking trails, and there always seems to be jumps and more "trails" keep popping up. Then you get a meetup of 30 bikers racing and the place will be a muck pit with tire ruts before you know it. The beavers make it sloppy enough for me!

Well down only captures and holds the heat you generate. It might not be your quilts fault.
You might be experiencing one of the first signs of getting older. Poor circulation in the feet. If there not generating it your down can't capturing it.

Like thrash metal? Check out my nephew's band, Deathwatch. He's an amazing drummer... https://soundcloud.com/user-660860695

Yeah I try to start warm, but they always seem to cool down before I can get situated in the hammock. I'll just start with the hot water bag next time.

That is one thing that really made this trip enjoyable. My Dromlite bag and Jetboil got me warmed up in 1.5 minutes flat. I just needed to heat 16oz or so and add it to existing cool/cold water for a quick warmup. I didn't even need to get out of the hammock - I just held the canister and let the stove run. I also put the warm water bag in my hammock during the day with a few other things like contact solution, fuel and external phone battery. With the TQ on top, nothing had a chance at freezing.
