Thanks everyone! I showed a few people at work that hate winter; I almost convinced them to start liking the snow

I like to do 2 cold winter trips each year. Even after 6 years now I'm still reminded about the extra effort involved. More firewood, drying boots, melting snow, heating water, keeping things from freezing. Always a good time.

This is a strange place. I went a few years ago in the fall and it's quiet like I've never heard before. I almost hear ringing in my ears due to the lack of any sound to process. No cars or traffic in the distance, no people, no wind at times and almost no wildlife. I only saw one raven and heard a blue jay and coyotes in the distance.

I want to do some cold trips...I lack some winter gear like snow shoes and 0 degree quilts.

That sound of "nothing" sounds AWESOME!!

Great trip report. Pictures were awesome. Hope you can make it up at the end of the month. Curious what osprey pack that is?

That's my Osprey Atmos 65. I really tried to talk myself into a ULA, but I like this Atmos so much I couldn't give in. You just get used to a certain function and organization after awhile I guess (this goes in this pocket, this goes here, this goes here...etc)

I sure hope to make that Green Timbers later on!

That's the one I wanted but was not available at the store I went to. I ended up with the next model up. It's a tad big, but when the kids go I can carry some for them.

    Catcha later.

I too love the pic heavy reports. That shot of the snow on the branch, you sure you didn't sprinkle down on a branch and take a picture?!? lol
Like the picture of the backpack too. Your review of The Osprey Atmos 65 was what led me to buy it!

Life does not get any better than that my friend.
Thanks so much for sharing your adventure.

All this work you have been doing to tune your hammock kit has really paid off.
