I want a Ridge Line on my Skeeter Beeter

I want a Ridge Line on my Skeeter Beeter......not a structural line but something to hang clothes, fan etc.If you're not familiar with the SB it has two tie-offs sewn to the netting on each end and you tie shock cord to the tie-offs and connect to a tree to lift the netting. I don't think just poking a hole in the netting is a good idea so what about this.......take a couple of pieces of ripstop about 3"X3" and sew them one on each side of the netting at the highest point(which should be in between the tie-outs) on each end and then cut a small slit in these pieces to run the ridge line through.Would this work or does someone have a better idea?

'Buying a WBBB' is not a solution for everyone.

PC - Have a look at this thread. It shows how to add a ridgeline to a Skeeter Beeter. A SB modified like that is a fine piece of gear.

Let us know how you go about it!

haha no harm meant int he suggestion lol. Im glad someone asked this question. I was so annoyed with the mosquito netting on my SB's i was ready to chalk them up as yard hammocks. I might have to try this out now. is there any reason for using that extra piece of rope (black in grizz's pics) as opposed to passing the ridgeline itself (orange in Grizz's pics) strait through the hole? This seems fairly simple to me.

    thanks,
    Pat

I'm sure it made perfect and obvious sense to me at the time....lemme see...I think I wanted to give myself maximum flexibility in quickly changing the length of the ridgeline, which is most easily done with the ridgeline passing through the "loop" made by the Spyderline, and then fastened somehow. No reason you couldn't do the ridgeline adjusting outside of the netting though, and just pass the ridgeline through without the extra black tabs.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

It looks like how the SBPro should have come from the factory in the first place! I had so much trouble with mine I HAD to get a WBBB. I think that the panel that you put in should really add to the service life of your hammock. I found that when I used the 4 loops they sagged in my face until I tied them up so high that they ripped out of the net. Because the net is so fragile I would recomend that anybody with a SBPro do a mod like Problem Child or tie it up with shock cord so that the line has more give.
