I chose the Philips Respironix machine over the ResMed because it doesn't require an inverter to run off a 12V battery. The inverter eats extra power. The downside to using a battery is that you can't the humidifier.....again, it eats power. The humidifier on my PR machine is easy to detach and without it the machine is a lot smaller and lighter. I went without the humidifier on several weeklong trips last summer without any problems.

I sent an email to cpap battery.com to ask about run time on the C-100 battery at my 15/17 pressure. The answer was 1-2 nights. $300 for 1, maybe 2 nights????? No thanks.

I use an old 6 year old motorcycle battery & get 2&1/2 nights. Running straight 12v dc & no humidifier. It's a Odossey pc680. I use it on motorcycle trips because it's the battery that fits my bike. If charge opportunity doesent occur I can start the bike, change batterys & charge that way.

A Frend bought a battery and he done an experience with it. At home on his night stand, without humidifier he said he got 7&1/2 nights before it quit. He is using the 24 volt c pap with the $90 cord to attach to 12v supply.

I called tonight & got the information. Duraceil Ultra. Durg 12-31J-A 31Ah

He said he got it @ Batterys Plus for $100.

I forgot to ask his setting but I don't think it's real high.

A friend of mine has sleep apnea and has been successful with an Oral Appliance which of course needs no batteries. Here's a link to some basic info.

I was hopeful that I could use one of these, but they are only helpful for folks who have mild sleep apnea. They aren't cheap, require a prescription, and have to be properly fitted by a sleep specialist. I asked about them when I was diagnosed, but they won't work for me.

I tried one of these, "Zquiet" I think it was. It didn't work for beans. I checked with my dentist about one and he wanted Thou$ands for it! ...and said it might not work anyway.
Yeah, I'll just do without sleep for a few nights.

I've decided to give the PowerAdd Pilot a try. It's Li Ion, same watt hours as the name brand cpap batteries, $130, and returnable to Amazon if it's a dud on arrival. The reviews on cpaptalk.com were overall pretty good, just mixed on the quality of the product on arrival. Some were duds and some worked great. Fingers crossed that it actually will power my machine, and that I can get 2 nights out of it. I will report back.

Please let us know how it works. At $130, it's less than half what I paid for a similar capacity cpap battery.

My daughter the family dentist fitted me with an appliance. She said it's for mild to moderate problems. I think it is working for me. I don't snore near as loud as before. But I have not had the sleep study yet.
