I don't take any credit for this method, just saw it while browsing this site:

That's looks like a good idea. My issue would be if the prussik would slide on my ridgeline. Also I have not had good luck tieing the tarp directly to the hammock. With that I never seam to keep my tarp taught. It also takes away the option of setting your tarp up seperatly in the rain. Now I can set it up first and take it down last. I can also set it up seperately for breaks out of the rain.
If it works for you than that's great.

I like the idea...I don't think it'll work with Air Core, though. I couldn't even get my tarp to stay tight with a prussik on the Air Core. Might be worth using Spectra to make it worth, though.

IMPOSSIBLE JUST TAKES LONGER
If your prussik knot is slipping, could you not add more wraps to get more friction? I'm too lazy to get up and try it, but I thought I would throw the idea out there. I'm sure someone has tried it, and can say if it works.
I am interested in trying this idea, but am loathed to carry 8 mil rope. Approximately what breaking strain would be recommended for this line, since I imagine it would take more strain than the hammock support lines?
I'm currently using 3 mil spectra
In all honesty, that's a pretty slick idea if you ask me. I'd take the hooks out and attach the carabiner directly to the cordage used for the prussick, instead though. It takes out a potentially weak link, but also will save a teensy-tiny bit of weight. The prussick could be adjusted with an extra wrap if there were slippage issues or you could just start out with more wraps than you think you would really need (Better-too-much-than-not-enough theory). Just my 2 cents.

I've thought about using a larkshead for a while...one long cord for the whole ridgeline and supports. A larkshead wouldn't be adjustable like the prussiks, but coupled with the ring buckles that wouldn't be an issue.
Extra wraps might work...this stuff is pretty slippery, though. I'll play around with it. The biggest thing with prussiks is that the prussik line has to be smaller than the main line. That's the case with my cords, but not by much...the Air Core stuff is pretty thin for its strength.

Hi
I have hung off prussicks for most of the winter absolutely no slippage and quite easy to move hammock laterally ie loosen one end and tighten other to move hammock left to right between supports. But also to raise or lower the hammock with out disturbing the treehugger.
