    Anyone see this?

I am looking for a tarp and came across this today. http://www.atgstores.com/tents/kijar...w&gclsrc=aw.ds

Anyone familiar?? I know it's kinda heavy at 2.2 lbs, but I think that weight is with the 8 tie outs and the bag/buckle combo that look ridiculously heavy. I bet after snipping off the buckle and using spectra for tie outs, you would shave a few oz's to get it sub-2lbs...

What do you guys think? Does it look like it would make a good hammock tarp? I like the multiple hanging options of it.

All that weight is in the 210d fabric, I would assume.

Looks ok. If weight is not a concern it should work. I'd spend the extra money for something like a Wilderness Logics Tadpole which is 11.5 ounces and probably packs a lot smaller.

If you're looking for a cheap, heavy tarp, I'd recommend getting a tarp that is popular among HF members, rather than a brand that nobody's ever heard of (I can't find a single thread on their tarps, though there are a few threads on their Walmart-like hammocks).

Popular budget tarps include the HH Hex ($69.46) and the Noah Kelty `12 x 12 ($69.90) on Amazon.

It is very close in size to a WL Tadpole or WB Edge at 3x the weight and about 2/3 the price.

The HH Hex is a great tarp if you aren't a gram counter. Best to go with a solid, known performer as SilvrSurfr recommends.

I am using the HH Hex, and I love it. It has some serious rain coverage which was one of my fears, having too small of a tarp.

Thanks. I bought the WL big daddy tarp so I'm set for now. Glad I didn't get the one on Amazon.

You'll be happy with it. WL is a good vendor so customer support is always there (although you shouldn't have to worry about it). Buying off Amazon could save money but trying to get customer service for an issue could be challenging.

The Big Daddy is a great tarp. Have had one for years and it has never failed me. You'll be pleased with your decision.
