    Simple question - 1/2" grosgrain?

It seems like most of the linelocs would best take 1/2" grosgrain to secure it to whatever you're making. All I have seen is 3/8" and 5/8" grosgrain - but I have seen a few photos of right-sized grosgrain on those linelocs. Is there a hidden 1/2" grosgrain somewhere or what am I missing? Here is an image of what I assume would be 1/2" grosgrain: http://cache.backpackinglight.com/ba...0462_11353.jpg

We stock it. And yes they are made for 1/2" material not the larger sizes though you can fudge it and still be ok... Not a perfect fit but it would work.

Thanks pgibson, will keep that in mind. Using 3/8s at the moment but it doesn't sit well with me! =)

Also keep in mind that just like every other product on earth there are different levels of quality in GGR. We stock (and use) only very high grade while what you will find at most sewing supply places and Walmart will be on the very low end of quality. I have put my full 180 pounds of weight on our 1/2" to test our tarp tie outs and can not get it to fail.

I didn't realize that GGR had different qualities, but as soon as you say it, it makes sense. I just put some GGR on a quilt on all sides, and when trying to cinch the head and foot ends, I found it to be very stubborn, (not to mention the accordion effect I got, creating possible air gaps). Is that due to the GGR I am using, or is GGR the wrong material to use for that application all together

Yeah, that makes sense pgibson, though I just searched your site for "grosgrain" and was unable to find it. You mention the 1/2" in the Lineloc 3's description but the referred product is reflective draw cord, perhaps you could link to the grosgrain.

Edit: ahha, "GGR" finds it, but perhaps not many people refer to it as that? Might add "grosgrain" to the title/description for searchability!

Yeah, I have fudged it with 1" folded in half and it's just a pain, too thick to sew easily and a pain to burry in the hem. Best to get the 1/2" from a reliable source, say like a cottage vendor that takes the time to answer the question and stocks said product.

I got my 1/2" grosgrain for my tarp from DIY gear supply. It seems like a high quality ribbon.
