Now having made the above comment about the danger of modify trekking poles and negating the lifetime warranty I don't understand why one would want to alter trekking poles. Trekking poles are adjustable so they can be made any size. I don't own a bridge hammock, but it seems that one could make a custom pocket out of nylon strap for for both ends of the poles. Once both ends of the poles are secure in their pockets, the poles could be adjusted to any length one wishes. I have a tent that uses this method of securing some of the tent pole ends with a nylon strap pocket, and I have been using that tent for years with no wear and tear.

I have already made a channel on both sides of my UL hammock, and have already run line through it for other reasons and that works rather well. It would seem reasonable that I could add two sets of nylon strap pockets for the pole ends, one near my head and the other near my feet to turn a $20 hammock into a bridge hammock.
