Very good to know. Sounds like moisture could definitely be an issue.

I've used a number of different pads and even reflectix in my RR without sweat issues - but I only used them at temps when I am sure to have at least one layer of clothing on. Unless it's too warm and muggy out to be able to ventilate from above, I think you should be able control your perspiration that way unless you're just a heavy sweater.

I'm looking forward to see what you come up with for measurements. I have a piece of reflectix that I cut to try to get full coverage just around my shoulders and upper arms, but it's kind of tricky keeping it in place. You may want to query one of the RR underquilt makers for the dims they use.

I plan on messing with the idea this weekend. I'll post back if anything looks promising.

I have an idea for those whose pads are too narrow.... cut a couple triangles from the foot end, and then move the triangles up and attach via duct tape/gorilla tape/hand stitched with fishing line or similar thin cordage to make the "wings" for the shoulders? I might try this with a $5 USGI CCF pad, shaped into a coffin shape pad.....combined with an USGI Goretex Bivy sack on top of it in the hammock, it might get me down to the mid-low 40s with just the Kelty top quilt inside....
