Scored 2 Ozarks.... Looking for advice.

So I picked up 2 Ozarks and I'm thinking of going back for a third

Why? Because the wife likes one lol.

I have an old 70s snowlion -15* bag. Still has about 3-4 inches of loft on top and bottom.. That said its warm as heck still. But it has a couple fabric patches covering tape. And the the zipper is broken so it doesn't zip....

So I'm torn. My initial thought was to simply cut the hood and zipper and have a nice lightweight summerish top quilt.... Now that the wife wants one I'm thinking about scavaging down from the snowlion. (The rip stop is pretty shot.) And putting that scavanged down into both of the bags since they have hardly any down on the top layer.

Also thinking of buying a 3rd now.

Is it worth it to repair the snowlion?

Id say no if you got your ozarks now. I've used mine to 35 and would probably be fine at 25 degrees. That is without adding any down, but I am a warm sleeper.
Get lost in the woods and find yourself again. A vacation,to me, is working with your hands and surviving because of the fruits of your labor. In the business world I teach;in the natural world I learn.

I'm a warm sleeper as well. Only half a blanket on and a fan directly on me each night even in winter..

Any particular thread or stitch pattern I should use when sewing on these bags?

Those SnowLion bags are great items. The Terminator is still using the one she got back in the early 70's.
I am still 18 but with 52 years of experience !

Yeah it is a great bag. Just don't know if its worth it to pay to have the zipper fixed and the holes sewn....

She's got a few decent dime size holes in her. And the ripstop seems to have deteriorated pretty bad. More more feathers poke through....
