    Grayson Highlands/Mt Rogers

Just got on today from an overnighter at Grayson Highlands and Mt Rogers area. I started yesterday at 9am on the AT spur trail to the AT to Scales back to the AT to Pine Mountain to Rhododendron Gap back on the AT to MT Rogers and then to setup camp at just east of Thomas Knob. Of course saw the ponies, saw and heard a small pack of coyotes late at night, deer (one actually tripped on my tarp guyout line while I was in the hammock in the middle of the night so I had to get out and reset it), and some owls. Temp got down to 45 degrees. Thanks to ya'll for the info about such a neat place! Here are some pics. Enjoy>

Thanks for the report. I've been wanting to backpack in that area ever since I biked the creeper trail. I keep hearing great things about Graysons Highland.

Thanks! Always good to see pictures of Mt Rogers Area!
Yeah, those ol dead spruces are tough as iron. Ya can't hardly break a limb off one, unless it's been dead at least a hundred years<G>.

Nice loop you did. Was water decent?

yeah slowhike, water was decent. I got one of the national geo. maps of the area that had the springs marked. All were easy to find. Thanks for the info before on the area.
