    STILL A KID! at 51

New BB and Superfly arrived today! 16 days order to delivery!
Feels like Christmas! Can't set it up yet due to a scout meeting with my son tonight. Oh well, that's why I ordered it in the first place. I will set it up tomorrow evening and get to try it out on a small scout trip this weekend. The next weekend will be the real test, 30+/- mi on the AT from Neel's Gap to Springer. Maybe to Amicalola if we do well. I am actually hoping for some rain to try out my BB.

Ran 5 mi of trail at Sawnee Mtn on Saturday. I am a track runner, not a trail runner, and coordination is not one of my attributes. At about 1/2 way I tripped over a rock avoiding hikers and ended up doing a head over heels tumble that amazingly put me back on my feet. Even though I sustained quite a bit of skin damage, nothing was broken and I didn't break my neck!
Best of all, what could have been embarrassing turned out to be an impressive recovery. After washing off all of the blood, I continued running for the remaining 2 1/2 miles. Little bit sore on Sunday/Monday, but I survived.
Not to smart? yes. But isn't that part of the description of being a kid?
    At 51, I am proud.

Hey ... like I always say ... I've not figured out what I want to be when I grow up ... or maybe I just don't want to grow up .... and I'm 55!

Glad it was just a little trail rash and nothing serious. Congrats on the new toys!

I figure I'm only 31, with 31 years experience. Lately my knee scars come from those killer sidewalk bumps that reach up and grab my sluggard toes. It's tougher on the water bottles.
