    seperating zipper

I'm making a new hammock and I wanted a removable bug net. It seems that i need a seperating zipper to do that. Does anyone know where to get such a creature about 9 and a half feet long?

If not are there any other options to get a removable bugnet without velcro. The only thing I can think of is to make 2 hammocks, which is ok. You can never have too many hammocks.

The closest I cann come to tht length would be on some sleeping bags. You might try salvaging one from a yard sale somewhere or possibly from a real cheapo from a big box store. Even then I don't know if it would be long enough.
I may be slow... But I sure am gimpy.

I think you'll have to use two zippers, meeting in the middle of one side, and separating at the middle of the opposite side, going around each end.

You'll still need really long zippers though. Check Quest:

    http://www.questoutfitters.com/

They have 96" long separating zippers, although they are #5 which is a little chunky for bugnet, but workable.

It is possible but rather awkward to use continuous zipper as a separating zipper. If this was going to be a once a season thing you might consider that. But to do it with any regularity would become very tedious I would think.

I think Dutch is right. To buy a zipper that long made up to separate would be as expensive as buying a cheap sleeping bag. I have begun leaving my bugnet on all the time but have made big U shaped zipper openings so I can fold it all the way back out of the way if I want.
    I buy zippers here:

Try this. Scroll down the page to the "YKK # 5 Molded Separating Tent "Inside/Outside" Reversible Slider" entry.

Only limitation seems to be that these are not two-ways (which would be preferable for your application). But they're pretty much available in any length you want for a pretty low price.

I paid $16 for a sleeping bag 100" zipper at Joanns fabrics, Burning Cedar has a good find there.

Walmart has a super cheap 40deg bag for $8.96 with a separating zipper. I bought it for the zipper, and used the bag to make two underquilts (albeit a bit bulky, but they work).
