    New turtlelady Stand

After four years outside, rot and insects finally destroyed the tripods of my original turtlelady stand.

I finally lashed up a new one today...just in time for spring. I applied a coat of wood preservative this time so maybe I'll get 8 years out of it.

That looks very nice and portable. Gonna have to make one myself. What is your ridge pole made of? I like how it could break down to 4 pieces and how long are your poles(look to be around 7-8'). I looked on the original post but it's up to 54 pages now..lol, so figured it would be easier to just ask.

    Thanks everyone.

The tripod legs are 7' and lashed together like this. The ridgepole is 16' to allow for longer bridge hammocks and made out of the 4' 'military camouflage net support system' pole sections that can be found on ebay. I installed snap buttons to lock the sections together.

This is my stand made completely out of the aluminum poles...

I've always preferred the simplicity of lashed poles vs. the hinges and hardware of the turtledog stands....just personal preference. The lashing acts like a hinge and stays on when you take the stand down. It only has to be done once.

That's even prettier than the first one!
Are you saying the paracord lasted 4 years in the elements?

I did not use paracord. I used cheap, poor quality 5/16" nylon rope and it was still doing it's job after four years outdoors. It was stiff and moldy with a few larger fungal growths, but it out lasted the untreated wood.
