Thanks! I don't know how I missed that place, it's so close to Strawberry and West Clear Creek.
Yeah, it's just like west clear creek but much more swimmable. Also you can drive in like I did and go to swimming holes or you can hike down and there is a roadless area with no motorized transport allowed. The hike is pretty brutal so we just drove in. I'd only hike in If I was really going for pure solitude. Really the best swimming holes are in the areas you can drive to.
Also down the road is the Verde hot springs. Seems like a cool area but I'm not a real big hot spring person and there seems to be a seedy element there that has set up camp.

I've hiked in and you're right, it's brutal ... full sun in the afternoon when I hiked out.
But the reward is worth it. You hike along in what seems like normal high desert terrain and then there's water bubbling up from the ground. One spring after another and then a fast flowing creek. It's beautiful. The only downside is it attracts a lot of people who don't know what LNT stands for
