    ring buckle support question

I'm puzzled. I've long since replaced the manuf. rope on my clark hammock and my amsteel 7/64 has arrived. I've tied a double fishermans knot together and is in the sleeve of the end of the hammock. I have a bight tied in the other end. my question is, how to go about the larksheath. I know how to do it, but since the other end of the rope is in the hammock how do I go about doing this? I attempted to pull the hammock through, but it didnt work. I'm trying to figure this out in my head and it's just a rat race. Do I secure the larksheath to the rings before I put the rope through the end? Now a few short months ago terms like "larksheath" and "amsteel" were not part of my vocabulary, so bare with me.

I hope this makes sense, because it doesnt to me.

    dumbest question in history

I think I've got it figured out, just needed to play around with it a little more.

I'm going to test it out here in a minute or so, get a chance to see how my knot tying abilities will hold

    sarahgirl goes down!

    well, hehe it didnt hold.

one of the lines slid out from under the double fisherman's knots, knots still intact and looking good might I add, but only tied to one line. Don't know if that makes sense. It only happened on one end, obviously the flawed end.

At this point I'm wondering if I shouldnt just skip threading it through the end and just tie it to the end like a gathered end hammock. In this case what knots do y'all use?

    Thanks

Sarahgirl .. are you having a conversation all alone in the wee hours of the morning?

Here I thought I was the only person that keeps those kind of hours ... even when I'm in country!

Grizz's video shows the basic methods for attaching rings, etc. Watch all of his videos, they are priceless. This site shows alot of good knots. Good luck, and to make things even more confusing, why do a whoopie sling? You have some amsteel, have you tried those yet? "Larkshead" is the knot your refering to? I'm assuming.

    Now go get some sleep.

Ive found it easier to take said rope and tie a larkshead on the rings before attaching to hammock.

On my HHULBP i did above^ and then attached to hammock by running the rope with rings already attached through the provided holes and finished with a double figure eight.

A fisherman knot should hold fine. goodluck happy hanging

Another option is to make a fixed eye splice on the end of the Amsteel. That would create a very clean lark's head option. That's how I've been attaching my whoopie slings to the hammock.

I didn't even think about doing that. Heck of an idea, AS. I was just making a bowline and backing it up with an overhand knot. Looks like I'm gonna take those down and do the fixed eye splice on the whoopie slings for Dancer and I.

Three questions for you on this:

    1) How long is your bury for this?
    2) Did you stitch the bury in place to keep it from coming undone like Grizz showed in his vid?
    3) If you did stitch it in place, is polyester ok?

    Thanks for the excellend idea!
