    Strap - Whoopie - Rain

I have a new XLC I asked for whoopie's I see that the strap goes to a Marlin spike hitch knot then whoopie hangs on knot.OK all well and good in fair weather ,if it rains the water just follows to hammock. Do I just put a ring or carabiners to make the break and use thin string ties too make rain run down string ? Then the Marlin is a fair weather hookup ,cos I will lose it if I go the route above. ?

    Thanks CaveMan

You can use practically anything for a water break, as long as it's positioned under the overhang of the tarp.

Many Whoopie sling users, turn the Whoop around and use a Dutch Whoopie hook. That way the bling is under the tarp and acts as the break.

    Strap - Whoopie - Rain

You can also tie a simple piece of shoestring around your whoopie as well.

What I do is to take the loose long end of the whoopie, and tie a couple half hitches around the suspension underneath the tarp. Works every time, and you don't have to worry about having extra string or not.

I can get a photo tomorrow if I didn't explain it well enough.
    Keep on keepin' on.

Had my 1st hang with my new whoopies & dutch hooks in the rain & was very happy to find my hammock completely dry the next morning. But i did use the old string method for awhile & it works great

Thanks for that Rolloff...I had read about the shoe string method before but why worry about an extra thing to make sure you pack and bring with you when you have the whoopie sling there? I'll make sure to tie off the extra from my sling in the future was a water break. I like that...
