I currently use a 15° 800 fill Stoic sleeping bag for any cold weather hanging. I love it and the unique center-zipper is great for hammock sleeping. It is however WAY too warm for summer use so I'm looking for an inexpensive (first priority, around $100) and durable (second priority) top quilt that will ideally pack pretty small. I think a synthetic top quilt will be a perfect for me and after a couple of summer rainstorms that soaked me I'm very willing to carry a couple extra ounces and have some piece of mind in the next storm.
I'm split between the Molly Mac Top Blanket and the DD Hammocks Top Quilt. I'm definitely leading towards the Molly Mac because it is made in the USA, half the weight, and apparently about the same temp rating. The Molly Mac is more expensive ($67 for DD and $100 for Molly Mac) so I would consider the DD Top Quilt if it was perhaps better in any way but $33 dollars is not a deal breaker. A sale on the Molly Mac would make me place an order tomorrow!
Opinions? Would I be looking at some other synthetic quilt?
