Double layer perhaps....silnylon outer and regular ripstop inner ? I suspect there would still be a condensation issue. Only one way to find out.

I don't know if this would work for you, and you would need a tap under it, but I'm pretty sure the Clark NX250 has loops for tent stakes if you want to use it on the ground as a bivy. I could be wrong on the that, but I know for sure I can do that with my Vertex(Clark). It is right in the manual, but also states to use a tarp to protect the hammock beds.

I've posted this before but here you go, pay attention to 1 and 2.

The first rule of Hammock Club is: You do not go to ground.

The second rule of Hammock Club is: YOU DO NOT GO TO GROUND!

The third rule of Hammock Club is: Someone yells stop, goes limp, taps out, it's nap time.

The forth rule: Only one hammock to a set of trees.

Fifth rule: One hammock at a time fellas.

Sixth rule: No sharp objects or shoes in the hammock

Seventh rule: Naps will go on as long as they have to.

Eighth and final rule: If this is your first night at Hammock Club....You have to nap.

Interesting thought but looking at the Grand Trunk solution, there are endless hammock/tarp combinations that are the same weight or less. Less rigging, my Nano and cuben tarp total 15 oz. Also, one of the great advantages of hammocking for me is how much drier I stay vs. a tarp or an ultra light tent. My chief thought is how to stay in a shelter since I have finally resolved to stop trying to get a pad to work for me... UQ = Nirvana, pad = sweaty, uncomfortable hell.
