Best hiking trials in Michigan or Ohio?

Hello I'm looking for some input in nice backpacking trails in Michigan or Ohio. We normally do the manistee river trail but would like something different with great views. Preferably within 4 hours of metro Detroit. And looking for 20 mile range hikes. Any help will be appreciated?

Howdy neighbor to the northeast. Lots of great places in our state. Check out the Jordan a River Pathway west of Gaylord, Hoist or Reid Lakes foot travel area west of Harrisville, Pinckney Rec Area (blind lake cg site 9 to hang), North or South Manitou islands near Leland will all get you that 20 mile or so range your looking for.

Do a search in the trip reports and you'll find lots of info.

The jordan river valley trail in Alba MI is a great trail with hills, water and great views. It's a 18 mile loop with a walk in campground. Here is a link. www.mymichigantrips.com/jordan-river-... I've been there many times I live 4 miles from it and it's not to far from I-75. from Detroit run north to gaylord exit 282 it's about 3 1/2 hours.

+1 on Jordan river valley. There is also the fife lake trail that just opened up last year. It is north of Cadillac a bit. 21 mile loop, very easy hiking. Not as scenic as Jordan river but a nice walk in the woods.

My son and I did the Jordan River Valley hike in December. Two days with an overnight at Piney Ridge campground. Beautiful area with lots of diversity. The trout hatchery is a must visit after the hike.

Awesome thanks for all the help guys, is the Jordan river pathway easier or harder than the manistee river trail? How many campgrounds are there off the trail I was seeing just 1?

I did the fife loop when it first opened. Great easy weekend hike. Start from the north and go counter clockwise. Stay one night along the river. Walk the next day past more river and lakes.

They both have their dry county parts.. Both are easy, I rekon Manistee is easier.. I like Manistee the best of the three loops mentioned..
I did Fife lake in one day, not really a planned thing, it just worked out that way.....
We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..
