I recently bought a 10x12 Equinox ripstop nylon tarp from Campmor. Great tarp for the price. I expect to use this as my cold weather/winter tarp.
I'm playing around with my new tarp trying to decide which way to set it up. My two options are 10' ridgeline peak & 6' walls or 12' ridgeline peak & 5' walls... (I've not considered some form of diagonal set up). I plan on adding pull tabs/tie outs to the walls & replacing the standard grommets, so my final setup is important before modifying the tarp.
Which way do you prefer?
Higher ridgeline/peak & walls or longer ridgeline & shorter walls?
My initial thoughts are setting up my hammock rig closer to the ground during winter but I don't think I want my tarp low enough that my hammock sag will be nearly on the ground.
Do you set up your winter tarp with the walls to the ground or walls a foot or two off the ground?
Do you use a standard "A-frame" setup or some other configuration?
