Probably a question that's been asked a thousand times but I'm not real good at this forum thing and I can't find the answer. I'm making a tarp out of 1.1 sylnylon and was wondering if it made a difference if the shiny side faced out or in?

typically silnylon is shinny on both sides. If your fabric is only shinny on one side, I would question if it is really silnylon. But, I would say put the shinny side on the inside.

That sounds pretty suspicious to me. I would give it a waterproof test before spending any time working with it. Just drape some over a large, deep bowl letting the material sag but not touch bottom. Then fill the depression with water and let it sit for awhile before checking underneath for leaks.

I got it from rsbtr but to me one side looks just a little bit duller. Might just be me over analyzing. And it does shed water.
I was wondering the same thing. I recently was setting up my HH in the dark and somehow ended up putting it on shiny side up and the ridgeline of the fly was perpendicular to my hammocks ridgeline. ??? Don't ask how that happend. There was a slight drizzle in the early morning hours but I was dry. I got me wondering if the shiny side went up or down? I have since put it down.
