You have to be verrrrry careful with planting bamboo. It is extremely invasive and the roots can peel up a driveway with very little effort. People have been successfully sued for damages to their neighbors' property due to bamboo invasion. Drying bamboo for use is a challenge, too. There are websites where people obsess and and post endlessly on the subject (imagine that!) where you can get some good info. One of the better ways to use bamboo is to take dried lengths and wrap them with polyester or dacron thread diagonally while painting with epoxy resin. Very cheap, very light, very strong, and addresses the main failure mode of bamboo: splitting.

Exactly what I intend to do with these poles. Then I'm going to paint them to protect the epoxy from UV deterioration.

So, how's the bamboo plantation?

I'm not sure how I missed this thread on the first go round but am very interested in the concept. Most group campsites for youth groups are very limited on trees so I am looking for some treeless hanging options.

It was a bust...the reality didn't come close to matching the website, and the owner was indifferent, and that's putting it charitably.

Indifference annoys me. I'd rather someone be passionate about what they are doing or just be downright rude.

It's kind of like "maybe", I prefer a "yes" or "no".

I guess lukewarm is not my favorite flavor.
