    Cheaha state park Question

So.......if Cheaha is closed due the the state budget crisis, is the Cheaha trail head also closed? What about the trails around the park---chinnabee silent trail, Pinhoti, cave creek, skyway etc? (Not sure what is considered the state park and what is forest service land) Thanks!
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.

Good question. I was planning to go up next weekend to Turnipseed, but need to plan differently if it is closed. Was planning to call the park office today.

I would think the Cheaha trail head would be closed (as it is inside the state park). Pinhoti (at least around Chinabee), is in the wilderness area, which is federal property.

Just googled it--Turnipseed is a Natural Forest Service campground.

Also, the closure at Cheaha isn't supposed to happen until October.

Even though the Cheaha Trailhead is within the State Park boundaries, I doubt that it would close since it is in a non-developed, free public access area. It would cost them even more money they supposedly don't have, to shut it! The developed part of the park on the mountain top (lodge, restaurant, cabins, campgrounds etc) will close, along with the lower lake and campground.

Oh man, when I went to Talladega four or five years in a row for the NASCAR race we always camped up at Cheaha. Awesome drive, their restaurant was top notch. Wow, that sucks.

Never forget being in our new Corvette and the other guy on a motorcycle heading into the park, you can make your own assumptions.

This is going to hurt the hole state . Maybe we need a big hang in .. There what I read they must show a profit this summer to be able to stay open in the report I seen ... Don't know won't hurt to try for sure . I am in the south part of the state . I am 45 mins from lake point . I don't mind doing the leg work for a group hang there .

Wife and I haven't planned anything for the summer yet past a Scout summer camp. Had thought about heading the other way this summer, if it would be the last chance to camp at Cheaha we might head that way.
