    Question regarding ridgeline quilt hooks.

having been testing them for that last two nights i have found sadly that they do not fix themselves correctly to the ridgeline - they instead wander back toward the end of the hammock.
the ridgeliner in question is a 2.2 guage and the hammock has an intergral bugnet so is ever so slightly thicker when clipping them on.

sadly i broke one of the two i had due to user error trying to force it onto the line
should i take a file and increase the ridgeline gap? or is my rigeline just too big for it.?

NB the tarp flies and wasp are wickedly easynow i just need to work out how to get my tarp to still be ultra positionable once hung.

There are many factors that can make it slip. It being 2.2 is one of them. Also if the suspension is too tight, it will make them slide. If you pm me i will replace the broken one. it is under warrentee.

Reviving a few wek old thread instead of opening a new one.....

Does anyone know if these Ridgeline Quilt Hooks stay permanantly on the quilt suspension? Or do they have to be applied each time? I have a habbit of loosing tiny things.

Also will they wear or fray bug netting that rests on the hammock ridgeline.

Yes, I'm also wondering if they would wear the bugnet.

I have never seen or heard of wear on the netting. The holes are big so if you move around the hook stays in place and the shock cord passes through the holes.

It seems they absolutely do damage the net. Here is a photo of the hole in my netting. I have one on each end. 20150901_154435.jpg

I had two on and unfortunately one popped off my ridgeline during transit from one site to another ( not sure when ) and in future I will always remove them while packing and keeping them in my guyline bag so as not to lose them! I also made the mistake of ordering black and in future will only order the white as they are a lot easier to find on the forest floor.

That being said they are super handy with my Jarbidge 3/4 underquilt but I find I only really need them on my foot end as the regular suspension hugs my shoulders enough without one at head end. However YMMV

Derekd that looks terrible! Any idea how that happened? Was it overnight or over a longer period. I am asking because a friend of mine in the US is sending me a pair and this looks worrisome.

My first night with my Jarbridge 3/4 UQ left me freezing, due to it not snugging up on my shoulders and feet, so the 2nd night I rigged a second line above my hammock ridgeline and attached some spare shock cord to pull the ends snug. It worked great and so I've stuck with that solution. If I could find something that could use my hammock ridgeline and wouldn't damage my bug netting, I'd be happier.

Dutch, do you think it's just a matter of getting the clips clipped on tightly enough so there is no clip movement?
