    Unexpected Customer Service

I wanted to relay this demonstration of AWESOME (yes I said awesome) customer service. I attended the Spring MAHHA 2 weeks ago. A good time was had by all. I finally talked my scout troop into getting out to camp at PGFSP and hike on the AT the following weekend (I hung in the exact same trees two weekends in a row). During a slow period waiting for the boys to pack up I went around the other group camp sites to check them out for future outings and while I was checking one of the sites I saw a black bag in the bushes. It was a little damp, but otherwise looked fine. I recognized the Dream Hammock tag immediately. I threw it in the car and took it home to investigate. I opened it up to find what looked like a custom Freebird (minus the straps). I hung it up in a tree to air/dry out and posted a notice in the MAHHA trip report to see if anyone was missing something to describe it. No response after a day. So then it dawned on me that Randy keeps really good records of his babies and he could probably tell me the owner (especially since it was a unique color combination). He responded to my PM within hours with a photo of the missing hammock and the current owner.

In addition, Randy offered to pay the shipping costs to get the hammock back to it's owner. WOW

Wow. How cool is that. I bet the owner was horrified that he left his hammock out in the woods. Great thinking on your part to check with PapaSmurf about tracking down the owner.

    Good on both of you.

    Doogie,
Thank you for going the extra mile and helping to get this hammock back home safely.
If this hammock could talk, it would have quite a story to tell.
In it's short 8 month lifetime, its already been to SC, MI, CO, TX, PA and probably many more places I'm not even aware of.
I'm sure glad that folks like you are out there watching out to help whenever you can.
Please let me know the shipping costs of it's return journey.

That's awesome. By the looks of the hammock, I'm willing to bet they may be a Steelers Fan.

Will do, I'm waiting for JollyGreen to confirm the address to which he wants it shipped. Then I'll make one trip to the PO to ship the hammock and the straps that one of my SPL found (with vintage Dutch Clips) back to their neglectful owners.

One of things I didn't do enough of at MAHHA was check out other setups. JG was setup near me and I don't recall seeing that bright yellow! Maybe Dutch's daughter's hot pink tarp distracted me!

Good on doogie and PapaSmurf for getting it back to him.

Nice to see traditional values still exist. This is why I decided to go DH.
