Charlottesville, Va hang sites?

My girlfriend is a UVA alum. We are planning on going down for a weekend at the end of May. We are interested in finding a place to hang, but it seems the majority of the campsites in the area are of the KOA style. Do any Ol Dominion hangers (or others) have any suggestions for good parks, etc where we can hang for the weekend in that area?

You have the Shenandoah National Park and the George Washington National Park.

Any state parks nearby? If you are trying to stay close to town, that is. VA state parks are pretty nice, from what I've seen...

Powhatan State Park is good with hanging, it is about 40-50 minutes away. North Creek Campground, near Buchannon is also good with it, though the campground hosts each year may not know the rules and you may need to call the park rangers to set them straight.
Any of the campgrounds along the Skyline Drive are ok and I have hung at Big Meadows and Lewis Mtn. Both are good hanging. I prefer the hanging at Lewis Mtn, it is smaller and not as many campers but Big Meadows is, well, BIG MEADOWS and it is truly fascinating to see. Be prepared though, it can get chilly, even in summer.

We decided to go the Airbnb route. She wants me to experience Charlottesville as much as possible over the short weekend that we have.

I hope that's not the last weekend in May. That's when the Smoke Butt is being held.

We have decided that it would be better use of our time to go somewhere a little closer to home. Smoke Butt is a but of a drive for a weekend hang for us.
