I just got done making four 8 inch dog bones out of lash-it in preparation for ordering one of Dutch's Pole Mod kits. I was using .032 safety wire which is small and it was still a total PITA. I started off on some old lash it and had to give up, went to some new never used lash-it and it was significantly easier. Also I don't know why but zing-it is a dream to work with compared to lash-it and both are of the 1.75 mm size. I dunno, I would just use picture wire but if it's been previously tensioned its gonna suck on rope this small but hey it helps build up those callouses and toughen the fingers lol.

I have the loop turner and both of the needle sizes that Dutch sells and I find that the loop turner is amazing on doing whoopies but not so great on small loops since it's fairly straight. So I still use my modified guitar string for doing loops with lash-it. I found it like you said...going around a tight turn in the loop is a lot more work than it's worth when you have other tools that will bend easier to get there.

I've had great success with a guitar string folded in half. I've used it on lash-it just the other day, only tapered 1 strand.

I made a UCR today out of Red Lash It. I used my wife's yarn needles for the locked brummels. The yarn needles are fat with dull points and large enough eyes to put Amsteel into. For the long buries, I used a wire from an old USB cable. I stripped the outer plastic of the USB and left the individual wires coating in place. I have 4 from the one cable. To get the wire started I used the yarn needles to spread open the entry point. Pulled the needle out and worked the wire down to the exit. I then used the yarn needle to open up the exit point again. First time splicing and took maybe 30 minutes for the entire UCR.

I use Dritz decorator needles I found at Wally World over in the yarn section when splicing zing-it/lash-it. Works well for me. YMMV.

The copper wire from a coaxial cable works extremely well and is fairly stiff for its thin size.
