Hey neat trip report! Though "wild dog" mountain? As if the legendary crocs, spiders, and snakes of Australia aren't enough?
Nice to the the HF flag out there!
I'd love to come down under one of these days before I expire. Looks like you had a great trip! Love the pictures ........ well 'cept for the snake. Me don't like'y snakes!
Might get Wentworth to concur on that one we have doen it in various times. its more up hill from Mobbs to Carlons but I think it was stil olny about a hourish when we did and we had just smashed of 35k prior as well with packs. I think the distance is only 6 km or so. Usualy a water supply at Mobbs but best to treat it.
Just grabbed out the map, following the firetrail from Carlons Farm to Medlow Gap, Hitch was spot on, 7km or about an hr fast walking. Then 3km from there to Mobbs Swamp.
Or you can go the interesting route down Blackhorse Ridge to Breakfast creek, then up Carlon Creek. Watch for red bellies and the 3km of nettles!
Hi Mate,
I bought a ULA Circuit earlier this year and couldn't be happier with it. I've taken it out in the Jamison Valley, Grose Valley, Mt Kuring-ai to name a few, with no problems.
But, if any proof were required that the ULA packs are built tough despite their light weight, I walked the Kokoda Track in July with the Circuit. Pack held up perfectly. Very comfortable, no problems, no rips or tears, nothing. When I got home I gave it a thorough inspection and it was brand new.
My mates gave me a lot of sh!t about taking a "shopping bag" on such a tough trek, but I felt fantastic the whole time. No pain or discomfort at all. Lets just say that the shopping bags gags died early day 3.
Personally, I can't speak highly enough of this pack, and I will probably never buy anything other than a ULA ever again.
My 2 cents worth.
Cheers,
Russ
I hear the ULA stuff is good but have yet to see it in action. Neat to hear that it held up the fun that is the Kokoda Track!
Thanks for sharing your trip.
I recently went to Australia, and must say that the people and countryside is a must to experience.
