    Hi

Hi everyone, I've been getting really into hammocks the past couple years and have been reading a lot of posts on this site the past year. I thought I might start contributing as well. I have sewn several hammocks now out of 1.1 ripstop, argon and hyper D. I've also created one insulated hammock that I just used camping for the first time. I'm super happy with how it turned out. Anyway, that's a bit about me.

    Hey there Danny,
I'll be honest with you, it just gets worse from here. This site just has a habit off drawing you into new things that just lead to others. Sounds like you're doing good with the homemade stuff, an insulated hammock, sounds pretty advanced to me. I purchased a lot of used gear in the for sale section and just recently started doing some diy projects and feel like I'm really getting hooked. Welcome to the addiction!
Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. Hang your own hammock from them as the winds blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. - John Muir (you know, all but the hammock part)

Welcome to a vast array of knowledge and help. Please be prepared to purchase much more DIY stuff along with stuff you didn't know you needed until you saw someone else have it. Keep all hands and feet inside the ride at all time.

Hey welcome Danny, I've just built my first insulated hammock as well. Would love to see some details of yours when you get a chance.
I'm planning to do a write up on mine for the DIY section, but here's the gist of it. Asym design with 2 layers quilt insulation sewn to the bottom with a 1oz ripstop outer shell. I'll use this as a prototype before building my final. Slept in it twice now and I'm happy with it, but I sleep well in hammocks.
