    Now I understand suspension swapping

    Greetings everyone

I was at a local outdoor store recently and picked up a gathered end parachute nylon hammock for a pretty good price. It came with nylon rope suspension, 550 paracord I suspect. I hung it in my basement from the ceiling joists in an unfinished area and when I got it, the thing stretched such that my butt was practically on the ground.

I rehung it tighter and was able to hang keep myself off the ground, although not much.

Now I understand why everyone seems to switch out their suspensions for some type of webbing. One other thing I discovered, the single width hammock I got was a whole lot smaller than I thought when I was laying on the diagonal. Now I know why people also seem to love double wide hammocks too.

So I have chalked up a couple of items on my hammock experience belt.

I'm going to hang in there. (pun intended)

Depends on the type of webbing. Nylon stretchs alot, not so much with poly.
