    $65 Hammock Stand @ WallyWorld (free shipping)

    Just pulled the trigger on this stand. Looks like Full Time hang in my future. Now just need to find a strong cotton material at the fabric store for some DIY fun.

    9' doesn't give you a lot of room.. Even a 10' hammock will have a 100" ridge line (8.3') and you still need to account for your suspension. I'd say go with cinch buckles to milk every inch you can out of your setup.

    those other ones have you right on the ground. I used one with a snug pack hammock it works but barely. Let us know how it goes for you

    The yoke lets the gathered end go over if the hammock is too long and the metal hook can be placed at different potions along the uprights to change the "hang".
    metal Hammock Stand with Hammock.jpg this show a 12-14' Mayan style hammock which I may end up using if I don't find a high thread count bed sheet type material for a DIY.

    I am wondering if when the hammock goes over the yokes if this acts like a mini spreader bar. this may help control excessive sway/rocking.

    I do plan on using a set of cinch buckles that I got for winter camping, but decided that I don't like as my whoopies are just as easy to use. I will most likely put the hooks as low as possible to give me as much adjustability as possible.

    That all said if you do the math:

    10'=120"
    120" x .83=99.6"=8.3'~8'4"

    This should give me enough room to have just the continuous loop go over the yoke on the foot end and be able to drop the head end with the buckle close to the yoke on the hammock side. I can always make a longer C-loop for each end so the buckles stay on the outer of the uprights once I figure out my setup.

    I just picked up that longer 15 ft stand. We will see how it goes, if all else fails I guess I can always return it. Really would like to get out and hang more but no trees on my small property.

    one problem is that as soon as you put any weight onto the hammock the arms will flex inwards. so even if you can get a taut ridgeline, it'll go slack as soon as you lay in it.

    Not looking forward to that. Is that with all of these types of stands?

    I haven tried a 15' stand but I suspect it will flex even more because of the longer arms. I've tried 3 different types of these metal portable stands and they all flex.
