    Cool How goes? From llinois.

I came across this site after watching shugs videos so I thought I would see what the community had to offer. I have been hiking with tarps for a while so hammocks seemed like a natural progression. I am hoping to spend a lot of time in the forums getting to know the community and lessen the learning curve that comes with new hobbies.

    Tldr:
My name is James trail name Wifu. The youtubes (Shug) led me here. Im going to lurk/stalk the occasional forum and drool over all the gear/mods. :3

I don't know why but my go-to introduction always feels more like it's from 12 step program.

    p.s. Hello to everyone

Nice to meet you. Markglist sets up hangs on the I&M trail near Channahon every now and then. Keep an eye out for it and join us out on a little hang.

In the interest of keeping communications going how many of you here make your own gear? What have you made? and what is your favorite?

I make a lot of my stuff because I like to make my dollar go farther and I don't like waste. I have made woopie slings, soft shackles and a tarp 12x9 out of a two mil thick clear drop cloth. My favorite piece of gear in the one I'm least proud of wich is the tarp I just mentioned. It looks like a kindergartener through a bunch of tape at the wall lol but hey it works.

That was a quick reply I wasn't expecting anything until tomorrow. Nice to meet you man. I haven't been over there I spend a lot of time in Apple River (highly recommend checking it out) and the Palisades. I'm hoping to hike from the Ohio River to the Mississippi this month and really test out this hammock. It's already looking like I won't be able to because I have jury duty yay me. So I might have to put it off until next month. It's about 160 mile hike its a little on the shorter side but it should still be fun its one of the only decent trails that I know of in Illinois.

I'm not a DIY guy, but you will find plenty of info on this site. See you out there some time.

I'm from mount prospect. Nice to meet you
Get lost in the woods and find yourself again. A vacation,to me, is working with your hands and surviving because of the fruits of your labor. In the business world I teach;in the natural world I learn.

Same to you BananaHammock. love the name by the way. I have never been out there but it sounds more intersting than where im at... I have to go at least a half hour min in any direction to get to most points of intrest. Aurora is like shopping... shopping everywhere. Thats kinda not my thing well unless its hiking gear but sadly only 2 kinda fit that category and even then not very well.

Welcome from Mi. I'm still stuck on step one of 12 and unwilling to admit I have a problem.

Nice to meet you christo. I was just in Michigan at the military exhibit in Frankenmuth. It is a really beautiful area.
