I thought I might chance a group buy (UK only, I'm afraid), but haven't got enough posts under my belt to access that forum.

The Edelrid Ninteen G is the lightest full strength (>2000kg) carabiner out there.
I know they are OTT for most applications, but at only 19 grams, they are in the same ballpark as non-climbing krabs with much lower strengths.
If I buy sets of 6 from here, for £40.95 per set, that turns out at £6.83 a piece.
I could post out using second class large letter for 74p (could post up to 4 'biners in one letter).
So, all up, 1 krab (delivered) would cost you £7.57
    2 krabs, £14.40
    3 krabs, £21.23
    4 krabs, £28.06

I'd recommend against the green. Harder to find if you drop it in the woods. I always try to get non woodsy colors like purple or orange.

Pick up some Dutch Gear...smaller, lighter, and gets the job done.

If you're insistent on using carabiners, just check the load ratings stamped into them. There are usually three ratings...one for the gate opened, one for the horizontal angle, and one for the lateral angle. They're rated in kilonewtons (KN), and 1 KN is approximately 224.8 pounds. If they do not have the ratings stamped on them, I wouldn't use them to hang off the ground if I were you.

I've been doing a bit of research on light carabiners, thought I'd share, in case someone else finds it useful.

Nice comparison. I recently purchased the DMM XSRE's on a massive discount.

I have a set of these:
    http://www.sierratradingpost.com/met...king-~p~3098m/

for $4.00 piece you can't beat the weight and strength. Plus you can get different colors for the head/foot to identify them.
