    Snake Skins

    Hi Hangers,
I Wanted to pole Snake Skin users.
Are you using 1pc or 2 pc snake skins? I assume most are using 2pc where the 1pc are fairly new on the market
If you were going to order a new set would you prefer 1 or 2 pc Snake skins?
and any reason you prefer one over the other?

I will be using them on a Cuben Fiber tarp

    Thank You
    Mike

I use two-piece snakeskins from Muntain Goat (http://www.outdoortrailgear.com/cott...s-goods-store/). I have one set for my tarp (Superfly) and another for my hammock (CXL). They work great and I love them. Also, Mountain Goat was wonderful to work with!

Following this thread cause I want to make a DIY set of skins out of No Seum mesh for at least my superfly. My Question is does it add enough mass to the whole thing to be concerned about packing it back in the original stuff sack?

I bought a set of Quick Flys (Simply Light Designs version of snake skins). They are the two piece design but they also have the option of a pocket on the end for your line. I am still waiting on my custom tarp so I have not used these yet. I opted for the silnylon version instead of the mesh version.

I like my two piece made of no seem for my tarp. Can't really see why 1 piece would better (or worse)

I have standard 2 piece snake skins and keep both hammock and superfly tarp together so I can easily deploy in bad weather while keeping hammock dry.

I use a 2 piece. I can see a 1 piece being usefull for expelling air as the skin is slid down. 2 skins coming together in the middle can sometime cause an air bubble that has to be dealt with.

I am in the process of making me some from that Dutch sales in comes as one long piece and you have to see it but decided to go with 2 pieces with packets on each.
We're all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that's all.

I believe snake skins, by definition, are 2 pieces. Otherwise, it's a Bishop's bag. Both work fine.

I just placed an order for a set of the MountainGoat Gear 2-piece snake skins. Last time I was camping I had to pack up in the rain and as I tried to put my tarp back into its stuff sack (Warbonnet SuperFly) the tarp was wet and kept sticking to my hands. It was a royal pain getting it all packed away, especially in the rain. I hope the snake skins help with that, in addition to getting everything deployed in the wind and not making a huge sail.
