    Wait...what's an EDK?
I'd planned on using regular clothesline...for the prussiks.

This the way I have ours so that we can clip them onto the ridgeline.

I'm still using the small one with foam blades. I must have gotten lucky because mine has lasted 9 nights out in the woods and I even dropped in the the creek and it's still working.
To be fair to the little fan, I've had it for years and this is the first time it crapped out on me.

The advantage that Travelon has is the three speed thing, but I'm not sure it justifies the weight. I've never liked carrying extra batteries "just in case", and this one would need four---for a total of 8 AA batteries in the pack.

But as I said in the video, you really don't need to run the fan all night long, just enough to cool down before sleep. I'm a big believer in the solar fan as it doesn't need any extra batteries at all.

European Death Knot. It's probably got another name when not used in climbing but that's what I call it. It's just an overhand with both ends of the line together.

I noticed on speed 3 it would move/spin a lot. I needed a way to mount mine parallel to the ridge line. I attached 2 of these http://www.lowes.com/pd_292685-1781-...ductId=3128405 to the rear and tied it off.

I'll try to get a picture these weekend.

Mine did that too when I used just one carabiner. The way I fixed it was that I used two prussik loops. I attached the carabiner that originally hung on the ridgeline to the prussik loop closest to my head. Then I slid the other prussik loop about 6-inches down from the first one and removed the lanyard from the travelon fan at the point where it separates.
I larksheaded the lanyard around the body of the fan where it flexes so that it doesn't slide around. Then I used the plastic part of the other side of the lanyard to attach to the second prussik loop.

That setup keeps the fan in line with the ridgeline and it doesn't change direction no matter how much you bounce around in the hammock.
I'll post pics later today when I get my hammock setup at the picnic.

I just upgraded my fan set up this week. I got an Arctic Breeze Mobile usb fan. It's amazingly quite.
I also got an ankor battery pack for it. Should be able to rest the battery on the BB's shelf and twist the fan cable to rest just over the edge. I plan on testing it out this weekend. Hoping to get through the weekend of one charge.

I have a usb fan that I bought for Summer camp...its a round ball and moved lots of air in my tent...I had a 11000 Ma battery pack and it ran it all week on one charge...and charged my phone twice...I have a solar charger to charge it back up or to charge my phone if need be but never needed it...I was going to post the Artic Breeze as an option but I dont like exposed blades period...foam or not...
