VIDEO: From The Trail - My Thoughts On The Half Wit

When Dutch came out with the Half Wit hammock about a week before I was leaving for my 8 day, 107 mile hike on the Long Trail I decided to pull the trigger and get one. To say I was apprehensive about a 1/2 bug net hammock during the peak of Vermont black fly season is an understatement. So much so I placed another full bug net hammock into my resupply cache at day 4. Well, I ended up staying with the Half Wit and never looked back. At 9.8 ounces I am sold, this will be my goto ultra light backpacking hammock from here on out. The integrated knotty mod, and 10'6" length make this incredibly comfortable to boot.

I found it easy to adjust my quilts as needed and the design of the net allowed me to tuck / drape it around my quilts and most importantly I didn't have any buzzing friends visit me at night OR during my afternoon naps

I am glad Dutch (our Half Wit designer) came out with the Half Wit (the hammock)

    Thanks for watching,

    Rob

    Thanks for posting the video!

I was interested in how the hammock would do with the black flies. I have hiked and lived with those bugs and they can be relentless. Great to see the concept worked.

I was also wondering how well it worked without the tie outs, and you covered that as well.

I am under the weight limit so I'll be putting in an order. I love the red.

I am interested in buying one of these, though I am not sure about the netting. Could you give me a good idea of the netting size? like what shape is it? Cheers mate.

We do both of those upgrades for free. All you do is put it in the notes at check out what fabric/color and lenght you want. Tehy are pretty much made to order.
