Sure it has been hashed and rehashed, but someone confirm my logic is at least not totally off...
I want to "downsize" my gear as in dollar amounts invested, and feel the pride of DIY, without sacrificing dramatically...
Want to make a top quilt from poncho liner FOR SUMMER USE ONLY...think the synthetic would be good because summer sweating in it all Summer...less laundering/issues with the down one....
Seems I can make one with snap style footbox at about 16 ounces....(74" long x 50" tapered design)
Good to about 50-55 degrees by most peoples assessment....
Being the motivations as above:
Am I nuts for parting with my Hammock Gear Down 40 degree quilt(17 ounces) for somewhere around $170 bucks return, and investing $25 in poncho liner for project???
Should say volume in pack is not an issue as I as swimming in space with summer setup in my Virga 2 pack
