    WBBB Layer Removal?

So, while buying my new WB hammock I goofed. I grabbed the double 1.7 instead of the single 1.7. I'm an underquilt kind of guy and really don't need that second layer.
My question is, is it possible to remove the layer? How much weight will I save? Anyone in Ontario want to trade a double 1.7 for a single 1.7?
I'm not sure what to do.

We would be one step closer to world peace, if everyone slept in a hammock..

I would love to, but being in Ontario Canada the shipping cost me 50 dollars in the first place and the customs was another 40 dollars unfortunately. So I'm sure it cost me another 100 dollars or more just to exchange hammocks which was my fault in the first place.

Do not try to remove the second layer. The double layers do keep the skeeters from being able to bite thru the hammock. Your best bet is to try and trade it.

This is what I figured. I wasn't really looking forward to cutting into the WB as its built so nicely. I'm not afraid to mod my hammocks as my Skeeter Beeter was heavily modded but this Blackbird is perfect other than the fact that I bought the wrong one!

Having a double layer is more comfortable than a single layer anyway (less stretching) and will in NO WAY interfere with your use of an underquilt. I would leave it alone and use it as is. The only concern would be the weight and that's only a concern if you make it one. Do you need it to be ultra light? The extra layer will add 9.0oz to a WBBB and 10.5oz to a WBBB XLC.

I would sell or trade, I am sure someone will either buy your Blackbird or trade you. Canadian's are joining the group almost daily and they will want your reject.

Post in the "For Sale" section better yet the "Want To Trade". I went from single layer to double, just because the second layer put a stop to having my backside from being chomped during the night. Probably really dumb, but I feel a second layer is a tiny bit of added protection if something develops a weakness. I do not want to get dumped on the ground.

Give her a chance. I think you will come to love her just as she is.

I have a 1.1DL and thought about this. I have no use for both layers. But I decided to just leave it alone.
