Finally a fly kit that makes me happy

Finally I am content with my fly kit. The fly is a Jacks’R’Better 8X8. The female end of a .5" single adjustable side release buckle is attached to each ridge line guy loop. The male ends are on 10' lengths of 5.” webbing with a loop on the end. Suspend the fly by putting the webbing around the tree then threading the webbing trough the loop and adjust the buckle to the correct hammock overhang, then buckle to the fly. Quick up and down as well as very easy to center over the hammock.

The side guylines are 12.5' TripTease cords with glow in the dark clam cleats on the fly side of the guylines. The guylines are butterflied and secured to the guy loops with a short cord and cordlock. The guylines attach to the Easton stakes with a clove hitch.

Under the fly is a hang line. A Hennessy pocket is centered and hung from the guy loops with flagclips. The hang line needs to be adjustable so the clips & hooks can girth hitched to the hang line and moved. A clamcleat provides the adjustment. There are mitten hooks about 6" on each side of the mesh pocket and flagclips about 1' from the guyloops on each end.

The Hennessy pocket is also the stake stuff sack. The cords are coiled an put into the side pockets, then secured with a binderclip. The binder clips make good clothes pins if you need to dry anything on the hang line. The Easton stakes and .5" webbing goes in the center pocket. The pocket is then rolled up and secured with a Velcro band about a foot long.

Complete with a couple of extra 12.5' cords = 16.4 oz.

I consider it an evolved apex kit. Every time someting irritated me I would come to this Forum for ideas. It is a compiliation of copied ideas that suit my style. Thank you everyone.

Sounds like a buckle system for the tarp using side release buckles instead of ring or cinch buckles.

Check my avatar picture in my gallery. The sytem was not fully evolved then, but should give you an idea of what it looks like.

The gallery also includes pictures of both flag clips and mitten hooks.

The webbing suspension system is just like a ring buckle or cinch buckle suspension -- except it is only a half inch and uses a side release buckle. It seems sturdy enough for the fly, but I do carry the extra cord as back up.

I will charge my camera battery. Are there any close ups you would like?
