    JRB Hudson River footbox

    Hi folks,

I have a question that I hope you can help me with. I am about to order a Hudson River TQ as a belated birthday gift to myself, but I can't decide whether to go with the regular footbox or the sewn-in one. I will not be using this quilt as an UQ (got a Yeti for that), so the issue basically boils down to comfort.

So, for all of you who own JRB quilts, which option did you go with, and why? I'd be especially interested in hearing from anyone who who has tried both.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I got the sewn in footbox .... sweet. I did not want to feel omni tape on my leg and I will use it only as a TQ any ol' ways. Just used mine for the first time in 21º weather ........ snuggo el buggo. Really nice.

so how is it sewn in? does it still have the drawstring closure at the end or is it sewn across the end and up to the calf as well?

As far as I know it's sewn across the bottom and up the side. Which makes me wonder how roomy of a footbox it has....

I have a Hudson River with the omni foot box and a No Snivler with full omni. When in foot box mode the omni on the Hudson River is pretty much unnoticeable. I certainly would not go with the full omni for a top quilt. I had originally intended to use the No Sniv as my top quilt but the full omni just made it uncomfortable.

I have the omni-tape footbox. With 2 hammock hangers in the family and a temperature range of -40 to +110 I prefer the flexibility that the omni-tape provides. I can use my HR as a top quilt, underquilt, blanket, bag liner, or whatever.

Across the bottom it is sewn and up the middle to calve. Quite roomy. No drawstring.

I've never noticed the Omni tape on my No Sniveler while using it.

If you have it sewed up, you won't have to deal with the velcro coming undone in the middle of the night.

Never any issues with the Omni when using my Sniveler as a top quilt. And I'll tell you one thing: that Sniveler just blows away my ultra 20 when it comes to the amount of loft and warmth it provides.
