Thread: First Hang

    First Hang

Just got back from a 1 night camp out to try my new WBBB. I am so happy. I'm 6'1" 280 lbs and I love to camp for 1-3 weeks at a time. I usually camp in a 125lb tent and sleep on a cot, my back is toast after 4-5 days. This hanging thing ROCKS (pun intended). Since I have not bought or made everyting a hanger needs. What I did was buy a $10 hammock from Wally Mart put my 30 yr old hollow fill sleeping bag in it and attached the hammock to the web rings on the WBBB. Slept through the night with just a light blanket temp was 60'.

Well no wonder your back was toast. How big is a semi-modern tent that weighs 125 pounds?

Going to a hammock must have made your pack feel like air without all the extra bulk and weight.

That was also a great ideal for the under quilt with a cheap hammock and a sleeping bag.

    Have fun.

Well I don't back pack as of now. I car/truck camp. The 125 lb tent is 12'x14' canvas 4' wall tent 7'7" center pole with a really thick rubber floor (think Avon boat). I love that tent as it has been home away from home. Spent many a thunder storm in it not a drop of water inside. The cheap hammock it got from wally world isn't a "stupid fish net hammock" it's a nylon travel hammock and I might say it looks pretty good. As my first post said I go for weeks at a time. This new way to camp allows me to go without all the support gear so I can travel on my Harley and pask all in a back pack. I hope to hike and camp in the near future.
