    Floppy Hex Fly

So I setup my Hex Fly attached to the suspension tonight and it worked really well. I know I can add tarp tensioners on the tie outs to help with the sag, but what do I do with the tap in porch mode.

I put the tarp in porch mode and because it's so big, it's seems pretty heavy. It sags in the middle unless I put what feels like too much tension on the fly.

    Any thoughts?

I'm not completely picturing this. Are you attaching your tarp to your hammock suspension? If so, that's a source of trouble. It can be done, but it's a very tricky endeavor that, IMO will never be as good as a separate suspension for the tarp. But, I may have very well misunderstood.

Hanging the tarp off the suspension is a pain in the butt, as I had previously mentioned:

If that's what you want to do, go for it. I'd hang the tarp separately.

No, you both are on track.

I wanted to see if it could be done. I hung the tarp on the suspension but ran a SRL underneath it which worked really well. Very crisp and sharp centerline.

The tarp.stayed pretty taught when.I shard it out to the ground. It wasn't until I got it in porch mode that it didn't hang very well. It was very floppy and wavy.

It sagged in the middle and seems like if it started to rain, it would pool up quickly on the tarp.

    Would pics help?

Silver you did mention it would be a.pain, but I think the static ridgeline helped a good bit.

If you enjoy reinventing the wheel, then continue along this path. Personally, I'd suspend the tarp separately and skip the lesson.

Ok, your idea does work better no doubt. Does porch mode work better if the tarp is detached then?

I have never tried porch mode. However, porch mode should work just fine with a separate tarp ridgeline. There's no reason that porch mode would work any better with a tarp hanging off the tarp suspension.

Just remember...In porch mode, you would need to make one side higher and one side lower to keep the water running off the tarp to keep it from pooling. Regardless how you suspend the tarp, this will be an issue.

Keep it tight and lower one corner.

    Good luck.

That's it then! I wasn't raising one end. That makes perfect sense!!! Duh!!! I wasn't even thinking about that! And that actually tightens the tarp up. This forum rocks!!!
