Had a thought on attaching bugnet to hammocks

Has anyone tried those really strong small magnets? I've seen them used to make a removable screen door before, easy to open and close because it snaps back together when it swings close to each side. The opening on them is an inverted T shape. The magnets could be sewn into the seam of the hammock and the seam of the bugnet. All you would need to do is drape it over the hammock and make sure the ends/tie out corners line up and it should snap together anyplace there's a magnet. Not sure about the weight on the magnets but they use them for fake earrings so they shouldn't be too heavy.

Alternately velcro could be used in conjunction with magnets to help line up the velcro when it's being attached, but it may be more difficult if the magnets don't line up quite right. From what I understand the HH's have a velcro strip that runs between your legs as you lie down in them. This velcro snaps shut because of the tension between both ends of the strip. A similar method could be used with velcro on bugnetting. Perhaps a magnet at each corner then a quick pull along each of the 4 straight sides would be the simplest method to attach bugnetting that uses velcro.

Sounds interesting. Can you provide a link? If it could be sewn in there for the same weight or less and provide a good seal, it would be less hassle then a zipper.

Hmmm.. these magnets would work (maybe be overkill) for what you're suggesting... they're very strong.

I wonder how close they would need to be to make a good seal. You could make it so that the edge of the netting overlaps the edge of the hammock by a few inches. This would help fill any small gaps with netting.

    Wouldn't magnet be kinda heavy?

All of those magnets might make compass navigation tricky...

Hey, I know of a possible source for those magents if anyone would like to try this idea. Don't know for sure how much they are, but I hear they have a decent supply, and get more in on a steady basis. Couldn't hurt to try it out.
