Thread: My Indoor Hang

    My Indoor Hang

Here is my temporary indoor hang while my wife is banished to the recliner following her rotator cuff shoulder surgery.

It is 2 eye bolts screwed into the rafters with a strong poly braid rope hanging down to 3/4" steel water pipe. Then I have Amsteel loops larks headed through my sewn channels and larks headed behind the rope tied to the steel pipe.

This allows me to get enough distance between my hang spots without pulling against my walls which are vertical load bearing. Everything is a straight down pull.

Sorry I can't get far enough back to get it all in one picture.

Looks good! My only fear would be swaying enough to ram that pole into the drywall

I hadn't thought of going into the ceiling with the eye bolts. I went into the the studs and so far no problems and it has been a couple of years. I guess weight could make a difference and my walls are around 20' apart. It looks like the ends of your hammock are much closer to the walls than mine.

What are you using for a top quilt in the house?

c0de I do have to be careful as the pipe will bump the wall. I'm more worried about the window at the other end. Lol. It really doesn't move much. Only a couple inches. 1-2 " maybe.

UrsaMajor1887 my walls are 11' 5.75" per my boys measurement. My hammock is a 12' sewn end channel so I have its ridge line set at 120".
Right now I'm just using my Eno down top quilt. Can't remember the name of it. Blaze maybe? It's too warm for the house but works fine I just keep it vented. It's rating is 35-40 degrees. It just works better for me than a regular house blanket.

Have you thought about making an anchor on the opposite wall for the bar? It wouldn't get much stress at all and should prevent the bar from potentially going through the window.

Yes I have. If this was a permanent hang I definitely would. However as soon as her shoulder is better we'll be back in the bed. And the hammock will go back to camping only.

Wish my wife would allow this every once in a while.

Well........she really loves me but if it wasn't for her surgery and being banished to the recliner I'm not sure mine would allow it. However I DO NOT wake up with a hurting back like I do in bed.

I can't help but think She should be in the hammock.

    Interesting set-up.

I simply located a couple of studs and used bolt hangers and carabiners. 3/4" hole so it shouldn't be tough to cover it up. I sleep 2-3 nights a week in the hammock when the wife goes to bed early and I always get up before her
