    Fluteman,

I cannot address your Smokehouse/gear question, but please congratulate your son for me. As an Eagle, I know what kind of dedication it takes to reach such an achievement and the kind of support he has to have behind him. I can also tell you that I had a similar experience that almost caused me to age out instead of Eagle out. Fumes (gas fumes and perfumes) coupled with starting the college adventure took my attention for a while and then the real world kicked in. It wasn't until my son joined Cub Scouts almost a decade later that I realized how much I missed camping and Scouts.

Let me know if you do decide to sell your gear, I'm still trying to outfit my family and I'm just a short drive away.

It was a pleasure to meet you at Falls Lake.

Full disclosure. I have camped with Mike several times and think very highly of him. I also own like and use both a tarp & skeeter net and hammock built by him.

Smokehouse makes some great gear. I've seen the smokehouse hammock tents in person and really like them. I own and very much like using a Smokehouse made tarp that I call the Honeymoon Suite. It is essentially a winter tarp with doors and vestibule designed for 2 hammock 3 tree hang. (He initially made it for me with that name but is now calling it something else so that those who want to do a 2 hammock hang can shake the honeymoon title.)

He is a great guy who makes excellent gear. You won't go wrong working with him.

Let me add my congrats on the Eagle as well. I'm and Eagle and my son is getting close to done with his. I too got out of camping for a long time and re-found my love for it as my son became a scout. I don't know much about the gear in question here either, but if it is well made and will be used, then I say go for it as well. Looking to do some of the same and sell some of my ground gear as it won't be used anymore and I need more hammocks
